In which I accept The Mission

Jul 29, 2010 22:15

Kelsey, Carley, and I are doing The Mission together. I have to say, it really is a change-your-life game.
Our first mission was today, and we were tasked to eat a raw clove of garlic. Here are the reactions:

Mission for Thursday, 29 July 2010 (Mission #16)

Eat a Raw Clove of Garlic.

Not too bad of a mission, right? We shall see if the players are up for the challenge…

RESPONSE TO THE MISSION:

Dallas: I am going to give you my reaction numerically because that is the way my brain works in intense situations like this.
1. No problem. It’s just garlic; I like garlic. It’ll be like eating an intense bowl of spaghetti or something.
2. Holy shit! Garlic is spicy as hell!
3. Just finish it! Don’t puss out!
4. Oh God, my eyes are watering.
5. Need. A. Chaser. Quick. *runs to Coke machine*
6. Don’t die.
7. I feel it going down my esophagus.
8. I think I am going to vomit.
9. *runs to restroom*
10. It is still in my chest. Is this what heartburn feels like?
11. Oh Jesus, my stomach is burning.
12. Okay, maybe I won’t vomit; it’ll just hurt like hell.
13. Need more Coke.
14. *consumes a lot more Coke* Okay. I think I’ll be okay, but we’re going to feel this all night.
15. *Kelsey gives me gum*
16. *chews on gum and smells like garlic for the rest of eternity*

Kelsey: 1…2…3…EAT! *munch, munch* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT BURNS! IT BURNS!!!!! *jump around* *swallow* GUHCK! Gonna vomit…GONNA VOMIT. Ok, maybe not, if I just sit down… *sigh* That shit was rough. Now I keep burping. :(

I don’t think I’ll ever be doing that again.

*Hard (Hard to keep down.)

Carley: We were all very nervous about this project, as if about to take shots of something vile. I ate my quickly and tried to chew as fast as possible. I love garlic, but it can be very overpowering. It was easy to chew but extremely spicy. I tasted it to the EXTREME and hurried to swallow so I wouldn’t be overwhelmed, but then I became worried that it would burn my insides, so I hesitated. I then finally gulped it all down in one lump, and it burned, but not as badly as I suspected. Yes, I still have slight heartburn and my mouth still reeks 20 minutes later, but it wasn’t as scary as I worried it would be. However, having an entire clove of garlic in your mouth at once really makes the flavors cross over into the too-much-of-a-good-thing territory.

Difficulty of mission: hard (and spicy)

It definitely brings you closer to the people you are sharing The Mission with, and you will forever have a story to tell at cocktail parties.
If you want to follow us through this year of awesomesauce/insanity, follow our reaction blog that Carley created: The Mission DKC.

My life will never be boring again.... at least for the year.
Remember to love.
