Less than three weeks after the AFL Grand Final, the Brisbane Lions began their pre-season campaign, with a skills and conditioning session at Churchie yesterday.
Only players with four years or less AFL experience were obligated to participate in Monday’s session, with extended breaks afforded to those who have been around for longer. Players with between five and eight years in the AFL system will join the group next week, whilst those with over eight years experience are not expected to begin for another couple of weeks.
Nigel Lappin, who missed all of last season with an ankle injury, was one of a selection of senior players who chose to join the ‘younger’ group for the initial stages of pre-season training.
