Once again the Toronto Browncoats are showing Serenity in a theatre to raise money for the charity,
Equality Now. Last year we raised almost $2,000.00 U.S. I want to do better this year. But the theatre itself costs twice as much as last year's did, so it will be a challenge.
The theatre, The Regent at Mount Pleasant hold 400 people. Wouldn't it be awesome if we filled every seat? And we have it for a total of 4 hours so after the needed set up, we will open at 1:00, giving us time to smooze, get the gorgeous Tshirts and posters we will have for sale, look at the auction prizes, get popcorn and see the movie. I know there are lots of people in Toronto who have never seen Serenity on the big screen. What a treat this will be for them. And for us who have.
And we have just started collecting some great prizes. Some will go into a silent auction (or maybe a live auction if we have the time) and some will go for door prizes.
I'd love to get media coverage this year, not everything can be about gay pride, right? Now if only the media believed that. But it should be big news.
Can't Stop the Serenity is doing an amazing thing once again.
I'm proud to be part of it.
