She wanted to trust him. Really she did. And it wasn’t that she didn’t think Neville was completely trustworthy because he was, she wouldn’t be dating him if she thought otherwise, it was just that, well, she wasn’t stupid, she knew what they were going to face, and no matter how hard he hugged her before he left and how good his intentions were, she knew he couldn’t really promise anything.
He said everything would be OK, and that he would come back to her, and that she didn’t have to worry.
Luna wanted to trust him.
She really did.
