Today I was thinking about Snakes On A Plane. I have a niggling desire to watch it again, even though I know it would ruin the beauty of the opening night theatre experience I had with it. What a night. It was pure magic, let me tell you ( Read more... )

You want good customer service stories? Hmm... Well, I can commiserate. Becki and I go to Starbucks, a lot. So, statistically speaking, the drinks have been made wrong more than a handful of times. On one memorable occasion they gave me a vanilla latte with...no vanilla in it. I was headed to the other side of Portland that day, but I couldn't drink my latte without vanilla, so I went back (a ten minute drive) and pointed out the error. Instead of re-making the drink, they just pumped four shots of vanilla in there and stirred it up. So it was still gross. And the whole time, they acted like it was my fault, didn't apologize sincerely, and certainly didn't give me a drink voucher. I was really upset because that's a store at which I normally got excellent service. I almost wrote in and complained.

Then a couple of months ago, we went in and I ordered a particular type of tea - one of their Tazo things, it was non-caffeinated and I specifically picked it for that reason; when I got around the corner to add my splenda to it, I discovered they'd given me "Awake," instead. Black tea and very much caffeinated. That time they apologized, gave me the right tea, apologized again and gave me a drink coupon.

I really think it has to do with the barista(s) as an individual that you get. That day I had to go back for the vanilla latte, I was wearing a suit; the day the tea was wrong, I was in totally casual clothes. So it's not how well you're dressed.

Okay... wow. You should have written in on that vanilla one! Yikes. You can't just pump more stuff into a drink and fix it... it doesn't work that way. There's something essential that goes on in the initial process that is required for it to taste good! My favourite bubble tea place did that to me about a week ago. I haven't been back. =/

Hmm, at least I know it's not how you're dressed. Maybe it's how busy they are/have been, and what kind of moods the baristas themselves are in... >_>;
