#5 -- I love this too, from the D/E angle, and their mystical connection, and the obviousness of the fact that Stefan's 'connection' to Elena was ALWAYS about Katherine. Which is ironic since when they all first meet, Damon's the one 'in love' with Katherine and Stefan is not. ♥ ♥ ♥

#7 -- My most favorite quote from S1. Well, including the next line: It's twisted, but kind of sad. Because she gets him so well--she gets that's it's wrong, but she can't help but understand him. This is the CRUX of D/E.

#10 -- Other than Ric and Bonnie that one time, she's the ONLY person who hugs him, EVER. *sigh*

#14 -- I absolutely love that this came back around in 4x21 "She's Come Undone" -- when Elena uses her anger for Katherine to center herself, she uses what Katherine has done to her, to Jeremy, to Stefan, and to Damon. It's one of those threads of story telling from the very beginning that makes this my favorite show!

#27 -- I think this too, that before Elena, nothing was real for him either; he lived in the fantasy world he'd created about Katherine. Elena woke him up to reality and his humanity. So lovely.

#34 -- I love Elena's expression when Bree and Damon kiss, because they are such a funny match! I mean, Gina Torres must be five inches taller than Ian! LOL. But I also love that this is really when Elena starts to see Damon as a romantic prospect, because he's not some guy abusing her friend, he's some guy a beautiful amazon of a woman was madly in love with at one point.

#54 -- Their basis of friendship is actually why I think their relationship will last. Because the heart of it isn't based on lust or romance or anything fleeting.
