I really, really enjoyed the episode. But have a migraine (am sick, stayed home from work, thus my able to watch it at 8). No post tonight, I think I'll rewatch the show tomorrow and post about it. But yeah, I really, really, really liked it.
Sorry for your migraine, Jenn, but not surprised if your weather is anything like what we're having up here. I hope it goes away quickly.
It's funny, but when I got the notify e-mail in my inbox, my first thought was "I'm sure I put an LJ-cut in my post" ... thinking that I'd spoiled you. I'm glad that wasn't the case.
I agree that some plot lines have felt more like summaries. On re-watching this episode, I did love the way the plot flowed between present-day and flashback. That gave me a clearer look at their relationship now.
Interesting theory about the Fell ghost. We don't know much about that Founding family, so it feels plausible that that's the cause of Alaric's craziness.
You know I'm hooked on their brotherly relationship. But this episode also made me more in love with how the relationships between all three are affected by each other.
On re-watch, I found Meredith more believable and I'm more willing to accept what she said. There is still a part of me that thinks there's just something not right about her...
That makes sense to me that some kind of entity is possessing him and making him stab people (including himself). I do hope they can do something to help him, because you're right he's a danger to people around him.

The core of this show is the brotherly relationship, so I am ok with how they dealt with it.
I don't know about Meredith, but surely she is not just a doctor...
Agreed on the witches...don't know maybe Alaric stabbing himself it's tied with this idea of the witches spell...

I can't get over rewatching the talk between the brothers...and I could talk about it for hours!
