This game is officially over. Bad session last night. The group decided to try to pose as Higharch scouts after dispatching a squad of them and dumping the bodies down a hole. One player stormed out after accusing me of planning their demise from the beginning. The others encouraged me to continue with new characters but as my reader no doubt knows I've been looking to end the game for awhile anyway. So I'm off RPGs for the foreseeable future. Shelly might try to get me to pick up the game I had for her and Kay, I might let myself be talked into it. I've solicited input on the situation here: http://www.circvsmaximvs.com/showthread.php?t=25489 and received mostly positive responses so I don't feel too badly about the situation anymore, but it still bothers me a surprising amount.

I think what really bugs me about this is the accusation that I deliberately screwed them over. I came up with a reasonable line of events given their actions. It's not my fault they did something stupid, again. It has been suggested that I should have warned them that the plan was no good. Maybe I should have, but I'm the DM not a babysitter. If I have to point out every bad plan they come up with I could just as well use a DMPC and make the plans for them.

I think I'll try my hand a playing again when one of the guys starts up his campaign. Hopefully my irritation at the way my game ended won't bleed into my playing.

rpg, oathbound, d&d
