1. Believe it or not, I have not fallen off the face of the Earth. I just haven’t had anything to post lately. I know! Boo. Hiss. Terrible excuse. However, I have created a tumblr. I’m not giving up LJ but I love reblogging. So when I’m not here, you can usually find random reblogs on my tumblr:
Precious Small Talk. Come visit me! Yes, I am shamelessly pimping.
2. So long and short of what has been going on in my life since I last posted: 1) my brother had a heart transplant and 2) he and my mother are living with me until further notice. Needless to say, I jump for joy on one and weep for the other. Ugh, I hate living with other people. Damn my house for being so accessible. Well, more accessible than his, anyway.
3. Christmas music has started. Excuse me while I do the Snoopy dance.
4. I am nearly finished with my Christmas shopping. I created a book of quotes for my mother and had it published using
Blurb. Nothing uber-fancy but very time-consuming. I have only one thing left to order and I need to go to the store for another but otherwise, I am pretty much done. I am happy.
5. I bought Crane Folding Paper (no srsly, that’s what it says on the box) on ebay and received it a few days ago. The paper is teeny tiny (2x2”) but so far so good. It has taken a few tries but I think I’ve gotten the hold of it. Now if only I can keep Lauren’s grabby little hands from crumpling any more of my sheets.
6. Am I the only person who is reluctant to put up Christmas decorations because of sheer laziness at the thought of having to take them down? I love Christmas. It’s my favorite holiday but I really don’t look forward to having to clean up after it.
7. Automatic renewals are the devil. If you’re not familiar with this practice, magazine publishers sign you up automatically for your subscription to be renewed (read: billed) before the expiration date. On the surface, it looks like a nice convenience however, it means they get to 1) charge your credit card before you have a chance to review it’s renewal worthiness/cancel or 2) bill/harass you repeatedly despite the fact that you have canceled your subscription. This is the reason I pay by check for magazines.
8. Speaking of renewals, Elle magazine must be hard up for subscribers. They offered me a 2-year subscription for $8. $8!! I don’t even like Elle that much but that’s a serious deal.
9. For some godforsaken reason, I have decided to re-read the Harry Potter books. I’m not sure how this is going to work out since I hate, hate, HATE Book 6. So that might get skipped. From what I remember, it’s about as important in the series as the gum under my shoe, but I think I’m good with the rest. Now I have to actually put the computer down, step away from the interwebs, and pick up a book. Not too hard. Not at all. ... I’m still typing, aren’t I?
10. Oh, and I got my Christmas present early. November 15th early. My mother bought the Kindle Fire for me. Whoo hoo! I win at life. Yeah, now you see how far I’m going to get with Harry Potter. ... I’m going to go watch Arthur’s Perfect Christmas on Amazon.
