(no subject)
1. Because I really am that big of a moron, I decided to back up my emails before I upgraded to the newest version of Thunderbird. I went ahead and copied and pasted to my external hard drive and…then found out I must have done it in reverse. I had written over my new files and had suddenly lost three months worth of email. ::headsmack:: Stupid, moron, idiot - those words were certainly being bandied about yesterday evening. Thankfully, the emails stay archived on the web version of Gmail (I prefer POP mail myself). I culled through thousands of emails to find the handful that were indispensable and had them forwarded to my hard drive and archived the rest in a separate file. I am so stupid.
2. Speaking of, as I was trying to forward all of these emails so that they would be downloaded by POP, I realized there is no such thing as a Forward All. Why? This seems like a natural function of email usage and apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so because during my search, I found other people asking the same question. The closest you can get on Gmail is to create a filter and even after doing all of that, if you just want to forward them to yourself, you can’t. Ridiculous. Why can’t I simply go in, check off the emails I want and then forward them collectively to one email address even if it is my own?
3. I finally got my hands on a sanding block and some new sandpaper. I would have started sanding my box this week but it has been freezing. Okay, my version of freezing are temps in the high 60’s and low 70’s but we’ve been in the mid to high 90’s since May. The temperature difference is astounding. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I want hot again. Here’s hoping for a toasty Christmas.
4. I watched the first episode (6x03) without JJ on Criminal Minds. I know I’m shooting myself in the foot here but I kept thinking about how awesome this scene or that scene would have been with JJ. You would think after watching soaps for most of my life that I would be immune to superfluous cast changes but I still miss quite a few of my favorite characters on numerous shows. Unfortunately, JJ’s just the latest in a long line.
5. I watched a documentary on meth last night and I nearly slid off the bed when they got to the section on meth mouth. I had to cover my eyes. Forget these PSAs showing drug-addled teenagers with sores on their faces. Just let a bunch of meth addicts show their rotten teeth and have a dentist in the background. That was nearly as nasty as that ABC report on Mountain Dew mouth. My teeth were having sympathy pains.
6. It’s official. Caroline is my favorite character on The Vampire Diaries. Love Damon’s “because you’re my friend” line. Also, love the bromance between Tyler and Jeremy. And Katherine has been one busy little bitch for the past century and a half. I just need an episode with more Stefan/Caroline and some more Damon/Alaric bonding and all will be well with the world.
7. What in the hell is going on with the Kindle cords? I thought it was just mine until I went to Amazon and found out that a lot of people are complaining about the coating on the cords chipping off. I’ve wrapped mine in electrical tape to keep the damage from spreading but this is seriously crappy considering it only sits in a drawer the majority of the time.
