Time slips away...
2022 is almost over, and for many reasons, I'd like to say good riddance. On the other hand, time is precious, this life is a gift, and writing off chunks of the time as though they just need to be forgotten is not how life is designed. Even when people are in prison, they don't cease to live, they don't go into hibernation, they still think and live and breathe. Maybe that's why the letters Alexander Schmorell wrote to his family in prison still serve as such an inspiration; it's a touchstone my brain keeps going back to as a reminder to keep going, and to let all of this do its work on my soul. There is suffering, and this life has far too much of it, but we all have choices as to whether we let that suffering destroy us or make us stronger.
