So I'm blowing down a hill (yes that hill the one I keep waxing lyrical about near my house.) in the driving rain, one of the last fall storms, and in my mind keeps playing the Marche Slav, the Tchaikovsky piece which I'm learning (not it really but a student version) and that's just a picture of my life today.
In more pedestrian news, we saw Thor today, and tidied a lot and went grocery shopping, all necessary things because I'm going back to work tomorrow. I feel some level of anxiety about that. I gave Mikey his shot today with the new big needles, and talked to my mom and Jes on the phone. Also found some hotel options for Mikey's family when they come.
Over the weekend, we went to Gympie. The presence of children was constant, but it's a source of joy to Marilyn that the neices have a relationship with J and I think he has some level of attachment to that too. We hopped over rocks up mother mountain rock pools, was probably the highlight for me. Aside from that we ate great massive breakfasts and home grown salads, I learned to play World of Goo, and was awesome, having loads of fun. We each finished a book and traded them to each other. I'm now on People's History of the US, J picked up Fermat's Last Theorem, and Mikey's on to Bolshevik Feminist (or as J calls it Menshavik Nonfeminist, but I'm giving spoilers here). I really did have fun at goo and we helped Marilyn beat the Green Dragon twice. I made chocolate bunnies with marilyn late at night on easter eve, the dog ate the easter baskets, we walked down to the farm to see farm things, Mikey made massive dinners twice and discovered a natural aptitude for sudoku, no surprise to me.
The week I should make a long and rich post about, but suffice it to conjure into your minds Micheal and me cruising tipsily down dirt roads, roaring fires in the evenings, good wine and conversation, and activated palates. We wound up with 23 bottles at the end of it, plus some visits to the honey place and berries and olives, meeting all kinds of people and stopping to smell the roses. A good time was had by all and we're trying to have a bit of detox between now and when Mikey's family gets here.
I've read about three books in the last week, some good, some holiday trash. The down time, such as it has been I've been in my house one day this holiday has been much appreciated.
