Over a year ago in Feb 7 (2009) Victoria, Australia had received it's worst natural disaster in history with a wildfire going out of control and killing over 170 people and livestock with many homes lost, well recently Victoria has been hit again but this time on the opposite side of the weather spectrum.
On 6th March to 8th March, the state of Victoria has been hit with a Supercell thunderstorm that brought flash flooding and hailstones (the hailstones were a size of a lemon to a tennis ball) with that happening Victoria SES has had over 4200 requests for assistance and with this Knox SES unit was the most busiest with over 1600 calls for assistance.
Sunbury SES had very few callouts but were called in to assist with other units that had over 80 jobs. Due to Victoria were having their Labour Day long weekend Moomba usually happens but the city of Melbourne got flooded and it was shocking to see that amount of downpour in that amount of time, there were no chance for the stormwater drains to take that amount of water in that short amount of time.
Kings Way was flooded, St. Kilda Road was flooded, Flinders St Railway Station was flooded, Southern Cross (Spencer St) Station was evacuated due to some of the roofing had fallen off. Etihad Stadium had also received damage. Meanwhile I was in Sandown and we only got heavy rain, while some places got power blackouts.
The State of Victoria has now bee nhit from one extreme to to the other in one year, and before the Westbro Brethren state their lies on why the State of Victoria is being punished by mother nature, May we state that this so called group are the same as terrorists and are not accepted in this world.
the only good thing is that this time no lives have been lost only damage to cars, and personal property which can be replaces.
