Well I got back into researching the whole "Mystery Boom" of July 4th, 2004. It seems like there aren't as many web pages with info on it as there were before, seeing as now it's over a year old. So yeah, it's kind hard to find some new info. But I did come across a very interesting source, a web page that I remember coming across back in July of ( Read more... )

On July 4, 2004, since it was raining and lightning outside, my parents and I stayed inside and really didn't do anything. I was in my room going through my CDs, I think, when I heard what sounded like a bomb blowing up. There was probably a flash of light beforehand, but I didn't pay any attention since it had been lightning all evening. The explosion caused the windows and doors in my house to shake, and I could feel the ground rumbling. It didn't last a short time, either...it rolled on for a few seconds. At first I decided it was thunder and that lightning must have struck very, VERY close to my house to make it so loud.

Derek at the time worked at an ice cream shop where his manager was training to become a police officer. According to Derek, his manager said that he heard a radio signal on his walkie about NASA being in the area after said boom. This got my conspiracy-theory thinking going and I too started to research it. I found pictures on the Real Rock 101.1 website of the mysterious black vans (pics no longer there), but it didn't tell me much. They made the DJs leave soon after they got there. I also found personal testimonials and such, all saying the same thing. Almost everyone had come to the same conclusion: It was a meteor striking. Supposedly there was a large meteor shower that night. I don't know what to believe...all I know is that the whole thing was really eerie.
