any help with the following phrases will be much appreciated:
Il nous permet certes de comprendre Walter Benjamin à nouveau frais mais [in a new light?]

Berdet en fait ressortir cinq grandes « familles » et, tirant un fil de l’oeuvre du philosophe ["tirant un fil"--not sure], dégage ce qui pourrait en former un principe commun [

A nouveau frais: never heard. The way it's spelled, it means "fresh again", but that doesn't make sense. With nouveauX, instead of nouveau, it could mean "with additional expenses", but again, doesn't make sense. It just doesn't sound like French from France. Canadian French, maybe?

Tirant un fil: pulling a thread. Again, we don't say that. En former: yes, "what could constitute the common principle of the philosopher's works".

Déployer: to spread, typically, wings. Not sure what "en" refers to. L'homme? Une conception positive de l'homme? Anyway, the meaning remains to spread, unfurl.

I do see what "tirer un fil" mean. By pulling a thread from the philosopher's work, you're discovering a common principle of said work...

I agree with "à nouveau frais". I don't understand the phrase at all.

Perhaps something like - "It certainly allows us to [come to a] new, fresh understanding [of] Walter Benjamin but"
