3. von sich reden machen = to bring a lot of attention to yourself; to become popular, famous - they made a lot of people talk about them

1. I think i need more context to do the whole sentence or probably someone will do it better. Just the bold part is "in the Arts for" (but that depends on how you translate the rest)
2. He began a philosophical train of thoughts that won't let him rest
3. the meaning of "von sich reden lassen": they did something that made other people talk about them (the y attracted some attention by doing something)

1. - it seems as if you think that "in der Kunst nach" is one phrase (sort of like "der Reihe nach"), but I think it's two parts: "in der Kunst" (in the arts) and "nach entwicklungsgeschichtlichen Prinzipien" (according to principles of the history of development(??)).

Though then the rest doesn't make sense (the "und Beeinflussungen" is kind of left hanging in the air syntactically), so maybe "nach" is not "according to, following" but "after": "the humanities of the 19th century confined themselves to finding that after history-of-development principles and influences, things only happened after each other [rather than with each other?]".

But I find the whole sentence extremely confusing. As if somebody is trying to sound too clever for their own good.

There are many ways to translate this sentence, depending on which aspect you want to place the emphasis. But I think this could work:

1. In the 19th century, the humanities deemed it sufficient to acknowledge only the consecutive [aspects? elements?] in the arts, according to historical principles and influences. ["nach" = "gemäß" = "according to"]
