I'm from Ohio, and I haven't. I imagine Pennsylvanians do it because the name of the state is a long one.

I've often heard that, too. I think the advantage with PA over Pennsylvania is that it's two syllables over five; there aren't many states with such a ratio. (California and North/South Carolina match it, though. Do people from those states use the postal abbreviations?)

Some folks trying to talk trendy say "Cali" for "California," but I don't often hear it outside of that, and it's not common.

Nope, at least I've never heard anyone say "C-A". We (the people I'm around at least) say "Cali" and "So Cal" though; oh yes, and "Nor Cal".

I've always said, "California." I've heard "Mass" for "Massachusetts" quite a lot.

I think "Mass" is probably more common than the full name of the state. At least that's what I noticed in the four years I lived there.

I'm from Massachusetts and I usually hear people say "I'm from Mass".
