Outlines for "Fencing"
Indian ink on watercolour paper

Finally, everything is as it should be. Or at least, everything is as close to what I'm seeing in my head as I'll ever manage. That is no guarantee for a completely correct fencing move, but it's anatomically possible for two human beings to make that kind of move, and the swords are actually glancing off each other - so I can pretend they're doing some kind of mock-fight. ;)

The outlines have been copied to the watercolour paper I want to paint on, and have been carefully inked with waterproof pigment ink. That includes all the minor details I didn't bother with before, like buttons and seams, and the details on the padded coats and gloves the two wear. I had to refer to my other painting for that, to actually get the continuity right... but I think I got most things right.

So now I only have to get out my watercolours and finish the job by painting the thing! Which is a completely different kind of work, so we'll talk about that some other day.

Tomorrow: the finished thing, after a week of fiddling!
