"A lieutenant of His Majesty's Navy"
Pigmented drawing ink (black, burnt sienna, indigo)
nib on 100% cotton watercolour paper

This is one of the few drawings where I actually used screencaps as reference... though the longer I look at it, the harder I have to look for any resemblance with Jack Davenport at all. Guess I'm not that talented a portrait artist after all, hm? ;)
Either way, this being supposed to be James Norrington, it's just as well he doesn't look like an actor of our time.

Originally planned to be a second try at a portrait in crisp inked lines (the first try can be found here), it finally turned out to be a portrait of lieutenant James Norrington - I ended up not drawing the Commodore's dress coat, saving myself a lot of the fancy braid and buttons... and not using the gold pigment ink for the braid either. That ink looks lovely on paper, but it's a pain in the butt to scan. And historical printers wouldn't have used it anyway.

I guess the next time I try my hand at portraits in historically correct drawing/painting techniques, it'll have to be in ink and wash, preferably on handmade rag paper, then? Hmmm.... *plots to become an art forger imitating 18th century paintings*

For the moment, enjoy! :)
