I spoke too soon

Some good news and some bad news.

The Bad news is that my boss can only pay for six of the nine credit hours that I'm taking this summer. I thought I was a smooth talker and convinced him to pay for everything yesterday. But I was wrong.

The Good news is that I have enough money to cover the $1200 bursar bill. (1200 for 3 credits!?!?! isn't that nuts?!)

But I'm not sure if I have the cash to go to NYC. We'll see.

This is a bummer, I didn't know I was going to be so poor this summer. Now I know that I'll be working extra hours at the SLIS office.

Another bummer is this woman in my 651 class. She comes in ready to fight. Honestly the first thing we did in class today was watch her have an awkward argument with the prof. Then I had to be in her discussion group and she picked on everything I said. I have to learn to not insist on getting the last word because she will fight for it and our "discussions" got heated. Imagine having a fight with a 55 year old crabby woman on how to evaluate checklists. That's what grad school will do to you.

I did feel validated at the end of class, however, when everyone told her how wrong she was (which meant that I was right). I'm finding it difficult to take the high road today. That plus sending GZ a sassy email because he forgot to call me last night makes me a loser.

I'll leave this update with something positive. Lady Oracle is still good, I'm deciding if I should read The Robber Bride next or take a break from Atwood and read something else. I never actually read Portrait in Sepia by Isabel Allende, I don't think I even finished Daughter of Fortune now that I think about it.

So many books, so little time...I feel like a poster with cats and a bubble bath on it.

In other news, the woman that does Jessica's hair also did Jennifer Cruise's! This is big.
