Goodbye 08, Hel-lo 2009

Dec 31, 2008 15:00

Like many other people around the world, I am greatly looking forward to the new year. Whilst 2008 wasn't that bad a year for me - I completed my HSC year of school, and made a lot of decisions on how I want to spend my life, and how I'm going to get there, it was still a year of great trials. I seriously crashed in the middle of the year, and that feeling lasted almost to the end, it's not really something I want to go into, but it did cause many problems, and whilst I managed to pick up enough at the end of the year get reasonable results, I'm stuck with the knowledge that I could have done better. In 2009 I can forget all that and start again.

2009 marks the beginning of a lot of things for me. I turned 18 half a month ago, so 2009 will be greatly about discovering myself as a person, especially with all the constructs society has about a person becoming an adult. I will be beginning my tertiary education, hopefully starting a double degree at one of the best universities in the country. (Though it kinda suck Aussie uni's aren't up to standard with the rest of the world.) The beginning of uni will also signify the beginning of my studies towards my career, and doing what I love in this world. Hopefully also the beginning of being a professional artist.

There are many things I want to accomplish in 2009. Some big things, some small. Many are personal, or private. Some of the most important things I want to accomplish in 2009 include a lot more painting, and simply practicing drawing. I need a pile of drafts before I'm happy with an artwork, and it's largely because of my lack of drawing skill. I plan to change that :). I would very much love to launch a website selling my work at the end of the year. I have a heap of paintings I'm working on at the moment, and I hope to build a portfolio I would not be ashamed to reproduce for people around the world.

I want to practice my writing a lot more. Writing is a huge passion of mine, and I hope to become published in the future. I have several ideas that I want to explore and expand in the new year. Goals that aren't related specifically to anything range from random little things to bigger things, such as moving out of home sometime in the next few years. I'd really love to repaint my room. The light pink doesn't really fit in with who I am anymore :P I'd love to learn to blow glass, and belly dancing has always been something I want to try. Of course I also want to exercise more. The most important goal to me at the moment though, is to embrace every opportunity that comes my way and to live in the moment. 2009 is only coming once and I want to enjoy it for all it's worth.

Happy New Year!

random, personal
