I got bored of my old user pic, so the new one is of my boat! iThis picture was taken in the 06-07 season, when I sailed with a friend of mine. Last season I sailed with my brother, and this season I'm teaching a different friend how to sail. Much fun. I went down to sailing yesterday and I realised just how much I miss racing. I haven't raced since the last race of last season with my brother, because of the HSC and Tina not being registered to sail, but we're racing next week no matter what!! Sitting on the beach watching other people race is no fun. :( Justin came in from the race early because he tore the bottom corner off his rudder. The funny thing is that he was the one who built the rudder box, as his dad pointed out! Silly boy, but he'll have it fixed for next week. That boy gets a new boat every season. *Glares*. It is much more intimate having a boat for years though, you know all the quirks.
I got back from the South Coast on Friday evening. A group of friends and I rented a house in Bawley Point for schoolies from Friday to Friday and we had so much fun!! The water was freezing but so so clear and beautiful, and the scenery and rock pools are awesome of course!! We stayed around Bawley a lot, but we went to some local markets, and up to Jervis Bay area to snorkel, as well as going down South to Bateman's Bay and Mogo Zoo. It was awesome but I missed my family and my Tobi a lot.
Now that I'm back I feel a great need to be DOING something. A great deal of time at Bawley was spent veging on the lounge watching seasons 1 and 3 of Charmed. I'm going to fix my bike (my brother broke it. Mitchell, get your own bike!) and start getting fit again! I used to be so fit and now I can't run to save my life. HSC is not hepful to the fitness levels. One of the advantages of living at the top of a hill though is that there is a great place to ride!! I am also impatient to start arting again. I have a goblin running around in my head that I really want to sculpt. I really need to make the armature for that! The clay has been sitting on my desk for a fortnight. I think I'll sketch him tonight and figure out how I want him and do the armature tomorrow.
I won't be doing any painting until I get some bigger and better quality paper. A4 simply isn't big enough for decent detail, and the 300gsm 'Medium' paper I've been using can't take water at all, and I want smoother paper. I think that has a lot to do with the quality though. I can't wait to get my hands on some Arches hot press! My paints need replacing too, since I'm using watercolours I got when I was in primary school. They're okay, but definitely not quality, and salting doesn't work with them at all. I think I'll splurge and buy some artist quality paints. Probably pans rather than tubes, because that's what I'm used to. That will be something that happens slowly though - those things are expensive!!! I need to make a colour priority list o.O any suggestions for must have colours (Windsor and Newton) are welcome! I also need to get some boards to paint on ... I like the feeling as setting myself up properly for art XD.
Last night was the
AFAE Christmas get together. It was so nice to meet Kirstin, Lily, Selina, Meg, Kelly, and Eldon, as well as Ash and Don. Everyone was so nice and the food was great!! Made me feel stupid for being shy before!
Now I'm off to attack some more weeds! And make a list of things on my boat that I need to fix! While I think of it, Kirstin, if you and Ash are serious about getting a boat you should come down to the club one Saturday. There are heaps of people you can talk to, and we can take you out on a boat so you can get a feel for it.
To the weeds!
