Itchy & Scratchy
This entry may get a little icky, so if you're squeamish, you'd best go away now...
So I'm suffering from what appears to be a very severe case of eczema. We're not entirely sure what caused it, but we're pretty sure it's rooted in spending way too much time in the pool in Puerto Vallarta. Dried me out, apparently. It was humid in PV, so it just made my head itchy, but after spending an extended period of time back here in dry California, it's gotten much worse. And maybe my hyperactive allergies made things worse, and maybe reacted badly to detergents and soaps and lotions... Anyway, I'm now bumpy and red and splotchy and very itchy. So much so, that it's difficult to sleep and I'm feeling very self-conscious when we go anywhere. I finally went to the emergency room yesterday, and the doctor basically said (after waiting 4+ hours in the waiting room) there was nothing he could do for me, and that I'd have to go to my regular doctor to get a referral to go to a dermatologist. HMO's are stupid. So now I have to take lots of time off work to see two doctors this week. And what if I can't make an appointment with the dermatologist till next week? This is gross and driving me crazy...
So I'll go see my new regular doctor tomorrow (because apparently the one I had just started seeing left the medical group...) and I'm pretty sure it'll just be another doctor telling me that there's nothing he can do because he's not a dermatologist. I just want it to go away!
