State of the Monkey
My Monkey-girl is getting tubes put in her ears tomorrow morning. We've been on a wait list to have it done for nearly four months, and we got the call last week with the surgery date.
This is a really, really good thing for her. She's very prone to ear infections--she's had at least a half dozen in the past year, that we know about--and it's also been affecting her hearing, which affects her speech. She's been in speech therapy since January, because back then, she only had 4-6 words, and she didn't really even say those words that consistently. She's come leaps and bounds since then, but that doesn't change the fact that she's still getting ear infections all the time.
So this is a good thing. A really good thing, and it should help a lot. It's still my baby (I don't care if she's two now, she's still my baby) going in for surgery, and having to be under anesthetic, and I'm going to be nervous until it's over, and she's back in my arms, and she's okay.
I'd be very grateful for any and all good thoughts that you could send our way for about 8:00 am, PST on Wednesday.
