Hi there! I'm Jay!
I've been commenting in a lot of places over the past few days, and I've friended a few new people, and I realized that I don't have one of those handy 'all about me' posts to give people the quick 'who is this person?' details about who's just shown up to babble in their journal. So I'm gonna do that now.
I'm Jay. I'm Canadian, I'm married to the Academic Husband, and I've got twin aliens that I call the Frog (my son) and the Monkey (my daughter). I talk about them a fair bit. I also talk about my three cats, about my job(s), theatre, movies, television, slash, het, porn, kink, online RPGs, things that make me go aww, things that make me go ARGH, and whatever else shiny happens to catch my attention out of the corner of my eye. Magpie. Yes. A lot.
I don't flock much, and I don't really have a friending policy, but I do have a 'people who aren't dicks are always welcome' policy. I go by the old pornography adage of 'you know it when you see it' as far as what I consider to be dick behaviour. I babble. I'm wordy. And I like it when people get wordy back at me.
If I think what I'm talking about is potentially triggering, or that it might not be of interest to the general public that is my flist, I put it under a cut, and generally try to give a heads up or warning about what's underneath. If I've screwed up and haven't done this, please tell me, and I'll fix it. I'm human, and I screw up.
My general rule is that I'm okay with most opinions, ways of life, beliefs, choice in fandom, whatever, so long as it doesn't go against the following: It doesn't hurt anyone. Including yourself.
More specifically... hm. What's important? I'm very insomniac, and it's not unusual for me to be awake and posting at ass o clock in the morning. I watch a lot of TV, and I'm fannish about the shows I watch to varying extents. I write slash. I write gen. I write kink. I write a LOT, but it's all cowritten, because I don't write solo. I need the back and forth improv quality of having a cowriter. Also, I have more fun that way. I'm in a bunch of online RPGs, and the details on those are in my userinfo. Also links.
I read a lot. I write a lot. If something is in my memories, it means that I've read it seventy-billion times. I'm actually unbelievably shy, and I don't feedback all that often because I get nervous that I'm going to say something stupid to someone whose work I admire. I'm trying to change this.
I'm stupid organized. Just don't look at the mess in my house... but by God, my picture files on my computer are organized to within an inch of their lives. So is my refrigerator.
And... that's mostly it. I keep puttering away on one of those '100 things' memes, but I've never gotten it done. I should work on that.
