get up and shake the glitter off your clothes now...

Alright, so, my life:

Sunday: Petra, Nat and I bused home. Petra and I stopped into her place long enough to drop our stuff and let Meghan in, then we went to eat and watch Wolverine. It was exactly the sort of movie I was expecting: lots of fights, a bit of character stuff (sort of contrived, but I've seen a LOT worse), a bunch of skewed canon and entertaining as hell. I was pretty amused. And the theatre applauded when Logan delivered his "I'm Canadian" retort. Wonderful. And then Petra and I went back to my place because I didn't want to stay there alone my first time meeting the new guy - Matt. He seems chill enough, I guess, but usually he just sort of does his own thing. I sort of prefer it that way.

Monday: Had to skip Jamie's birthday party because I'm a dummy who procrastinates like mad. While putting the final touches on it, the fire alarm went off. I politely explained to Matt that it does that, from time to time, but there's never actually a real fire, so not to worry. Then he told me he smelled something, and sure enough when we opened the door I couldn't even see the elevators through the smoke. I grabbed my computer, ipod and phone (yup, priorities, but next time I'm grabbing my wallet, too) then my coat and we booked it out of there. I emailed the prof from the curb - there was an email waiting for me when I woke up telling me I could have an extension. Gotta love Gutwinski.

Tuesday: Went to school for a bit - Gutwinski laughed when he saw me and asked if I was alright or if I got any sleep, generally was just really nice to me lol. Skipped sociolinguistics and went downtown with Meg instead, so I could hand out some resumes (and get told to do some online but that's easy). She bought a book, I bought lengerie - La Vie en Rose was hiring and once you get me in there it's so tough not to buy something. The woman was really friendly and I thought I made a good impression but no word from them yet. I would love to work there, but it may have the opposite effect on my bank account haha. Not to mention I'm already out of drawer space and I can't afford any more lol. Came home and CLEANED - I discovered a floor underneath all that crap! Yea, I'm pretty surprised.

Wednesday: Skipped French and got myself a decent sleep instead, which was nice. Finished up the major clean of my room and then got my butt downtown for the Dictionary of Old English. It was pretty cool, and the prof showing us around was really friendly - and so enthusiastic about Old English! It was pretty cute. The whole project is pretty ambitious, but super cool and super useful (or it will be, when they're all completed in - her guess - ten years). As I was walking into my building, my phone saw fit to inform me that I missed a call - I imagine it was just before I got off the subway because that seems to be when my phone takes a while to tell me I've missed something. Point: Joe called me :). So he came over after he'd made his dad dinner - toting leftovers, good boy. We chilled out, drank some wine, watched The Spirit and the last couple episodes of Firefly lol. A nice relaxing night.

Thursday: got a text from Petra at about ten to nine (class starts at nine) asking if I was coming because we had a listening test - whoops, I thought this was a week off. So I had to book it out of bed and out the door - I don't think I've ever gotten moving so fast. I was on the 34 by 9:06 and the 11 by 9:20. At some point Petra "informed" the prof that my bus broke down, but I was on my way, but the prof assured Petra that the test wasn't until 10 so I had time. Woo. Made it with time to spare, and we all laughed at how silly I am. I informed Petra that she was my saviour and I love her more than life itself. I even resisted the urge to end with "even despite the smell". That's how much I appreciated her in that moment haha. Went home and had leftovers for lunch - yum! Then Joe and I went downtown: I took him across Queen West - we spent a bit of time in the Silver Snail (yup, that's how I roll) and went into David's tea to get me some new teeeeaaaaas. Walked through Kensington, then went home before the rain started. We ordered some pizza and watched a few more movies - TMNT baby! And the end of Die Hard 2 on TV lol. Yup, we're cool.

So today I'm just relaxing. Joe left early so he could meet back up with his dad and friends to see Star Trek (HA! I'm not the only one who sees dorky movies with their dad), and my dad will be coming down after work - with Christa. I get that she wants to be loved by her father, or whatever, but she's not into this stuff. I mean, I'm not a Trek guru, not even close, but at least I'll sit down and watch it. She's never even done that. She lives with mom and dad, they're always there to give her attention or whatever else she wants. This is my thing with my father, and I just want her to back the fuck off. I'm really hoping it's a good movie, because it feels like they could screw it up pretty easily. So I guess we'll see. It should be fun either way, though!

And that's the story of my life for the past week. Some good, some bad, the usual :).

peace out
