Tercel

Tercel is an Oriental cat. This is like a Siamese cat, except that it's points are not colored but are white. This means he is not deaf like most blue eyed white cats, for white is a natural color both for points and body color in the Siamese breed. He is a very rare and special cat, and we have been honored to have him live with us for the past several years.
We had another Siamese before Tercel, Mr. Frankie Blue. I had adopted him from the SPCA when we moved from NJ to Bucks County, Pa. The people at the shelter said they were told he was 6 years old...but after a few weeks and a Vet check-up, we were told he must be older than that - turned out he was 13 when they got in touch with the people that had him b4. Needless to say, Mr. Blue wasn't with us for very long...but we were enchanted by the breed and wished for another Siamese. I contacted some people about getting another Siamese, and someone put us in touch with a breeder who had one for adoption. He said he had a champion Oriental named Tercel for adoption. Tercel didn't work out so well as a show cat in the long run, altho he did manage to capture the title of one of America's top 10 cats. When he was on, he was on, but when he didn't want to co-operate, he was in a frenzy. So, he helped make lots of little champs, and then was neutered. At 1 1/2 years of age, Tercel was ours. I went to New Hope to pick him up, and was amazed by the blinding white-ness of his fur, and the intense bluish, almost violet intense gaze. Wow.
So, home we went. His first few weeks were quite rocky. He was a bit of the nervous type and liked to hide. We knew he was around ‘cause we had to change the litter and put more food out. After we had him about 2 weeks, we has some friends of Rob visit us fro Pittsburgh. They were staying for a few days, but, when they were bringing in all their stuff (we’d be jamming & clubbing). Tercel snuck out the front door! Oh Rats! It took a week, and posters all over the area to find him. A lady said they was a white cat under her deck - Rob went over…yes, it was Tercel. Hwe was in bad shape…very dehydrated and hungry, with a mashed up back leg and a twig sticking out his side. We took him to the Vet…and months later with lots of care, he was ok…never the same with the leg, but surprisingly fine. We got him a friend, Mitzy, a Tabby (who totally Rocks, and is a total bitch when I’m not paying attention to her - then she knocks over my records)
Anyhows, Tercel is going down fast now. He had a brief revival when I force fed him that nutrition gel they make. I did that for a few days, kept him clean, then he was good. Suddenly tho, we saw he was all sooo very thin, and so tired and still….

He probly won’t be with us long now…so I made him a special place in the window for him to get his beloved warmth. I will help him drink and eat and bathroom - and help him have a dignified passing. Tercel, you are an awesome & beautiful cat…….
