Poor old Pterry. I'm sure he could have been as rich as JKR if he'd set his mind to it. He's always refused permission to film his books, or for there to be merchandising based on it.

He's by far the better writer, as well.

I'm not the greatest specialist of Pratchett**, but from what I've read I'd say that, yes, his work is far better.

**He is one author I don't want to read anymore in translation and I'ven't been reading english for a very long time. The last time I went to London, I bought a huge piles of his books and I'm waiting to be in the right state of mind to dive in it, which will be when I'm not utterly depressed by too much marking.

I love HP, the serie has its own qualities, but a huge part of the appeal is the suspens of it. It'll die with the publication of book 7.

I think, certainly in his later works, he's one of the finest modern writers around.

I think it'll take until the last film for the fandom to die completely, but then most people will move on elsewhere. I shall be sad to see it go.

I wonder what we'll all talk about then.
