Miss Granger, Miss Perks, Mister Zabini and Mister Boot:

My dear sirs and madams,

A good evening to you all! Well now, I'm very pleased to have seen excellent work out of you all this term, excellent work indeed. I must say I've been very impressed with the calibre of work you have been producing, and if I do say so myself the four of you show an uncanny knack for the subject! If you choose to make a name for yourselves in the inscrutable science of potions crafting, I dare say you'll find the doors will open for you. I, of course, will always be on hand for a little advice, should you need it. You especially, Miss Granger! Now there's no need to be modest, my dear girl, I must say you have talent this old man hasn't seen in years!

Now I know the holidays is hardly the time for studies, but I'm afraid I must ask for a report on the first phase of your projects. Just a little summary of this term's work to be handed in at the start of next term, nothing too technical. I doubt such a small assignment will give the four of you much trouble, seeing as you've already done the work, so the hard part is over and done with! If you're in need of an extension, I'm not unreasonable-- just pop by my office for a chat and we'll the two of us work something out that suits.

I'm afraid I haven't had the time to muster up a proper Christmas party this year, but never fear! I have a little something in the works to brighten up the long winter ahead next term, and rest assured the four of you will be included!

Happy holidays, and good evening,

Professor Horace E. F. Slughorn
