recent events
Last night, Chewie and Laura were nice enough to take me a barbecue that their family was having. Though it's been explained to me, I'm still wrapping my head around the idea of their extended family. What it reminds me of, and reminded me of especially last night, was the coven that Thea's family used to have with Tiffany's family and Everardo and Gary. I was only moderately involved in that because I was a little kid when it was still together and more than that, no one really wanted to include my family because we really aren't the greatest pagans, I guess. So my knowledge of the inner workings of that group is somewhat limited.
But what reminded me of the coven was that Chewie's family seems to have a lot of ritual aspects to it, that sort of strengthen it as a community, which I really liked about it. If there's anything you can get out of relationships with lots of people it's a sense of community. Granted, the coven group was all ritual all the time and they were much less casual than what I saw last night, but I think that was part of what made them kind of unappealing. I've always wanted to find something that made me feel spiritually fulfilled, and rituals are a great way to achieve that feeling, however the coven often came across as exclusive and occasionally insane. If anyone is familiar with the highly sexual nature of traditional pagan rituals you'll understand what I mean.
It was my impression from last night that Chewie's family seems to have a very appropriate mix of rituals and casual events. To me, it's vastly important that a group have both because I can't feel like I belong in a group that just has one or the other, because that wouldn't address me as a person very much. I need both. I mean, at the end of the day, we're all just people and we have live with that, and I don't find that all rituals have much of a place in my everyday life. I'm sure that that isn't true for everyone, but it is for me.
Another awesome thing about last night was that Jesse gave me a big hug and... it was really great. I didn't wanna let go. Jennifer is lucky to be seeing her. I'd better stop now though before I swoon.
In other news, I get to try knife play on monday, which excites me to no end. I was looking to find someone who was experienced and liked doing it. I was originally planning to try and get ahold of Karen because I really enjoyed her knife play scene with Lea at the last party, but I never got around to and I'm actually not sure how excited I am about playing with a female dom. I'm glad one of my new playmates, Brian, was good enough to mention it when we played this past tuesday.
Oh, also, I made a screen with the Club X logo on it, so hopefully I'll have some pictures of cool prints I made in my next entry. I just wanted to have some stuff to show off in LA. :]
