Heeeyyyy guyz. I haven't posted here for a bit.

I have a question, especially for all you writers.

Recently, I finally grew a spine and started sharing my writing with people. I've gotten a couple comments saying that my writing is "too conversational". To be quite honest, I don't know if it's legitimate to argue that "conversational" is bad writing. I do tend to write my stories from a first-person perspective like that--with colloquialisms and observations of the character narrating it. It's not meant to be worded like a college essay, it's meant to be written as if the person is sitting right there, telling you the story. :/ Is it really bad writing to write like that?

I'm asking this because I've heard that you're really not supposed to argue with critiques. But at the same time I know that you don't have to do everything the critic tells you. And I'm curious as to what other people think.
