So I'm seriously peeved at my roommate Mark right now. We've been talking about going down to DC to see our friend Gil for a couple weeks now. I've been trying to get him to tell me a good time for him so we can book the bus tickets early and he's stalling. Not because he doesn't want to go, but because we're communicating via text message while I'm at work. Why can't boys ever look anything up? Argh. I just booked my ticket so I'm going either way, but I don't want to go alone.

In other more exciting news, I am going to Moldova on June 7th. I have my place, I have my time, and I am confirmed. Since no one I've talked to knows anything about Moldova (I knew nothing before I did the research), here are a few fun facts about the place I'm going to spend two years of my life.

1. Their main agriculture is grapes. Which means wine. Several times in my PC info packets, they've warned against people trying to get you smashed. It's considered rude to turn away wine, but they will give it to you until you drop. So excited.
2. It is slightly larger than the state of Maryland
3. They speak "Moldovan" which is widely considered to be exactly the same as Romanian (a romantic language). There are also large portions of the country that speak Russian.
4. I will live in the capital, Chisinau, for the first three months. After that, I get moved to small village and live with a family, probably for the remainder of my time there.
5. They are largely Greek Orthodox, which I know almost nothing about, besides the fact that they have their own version of a pope called something else.
6. The weather is supposed to be comparable to Michigan. So its cold, but its not Russia cold.

I'm working on my aspiration statement right now which I'm having a hard time with. The people in Moldova get two pieces of info about me before I go: my resume and aspiration statement. Also, I hate writing personal statements. I talked to Nicky a couple days ago, and I'm very excited for her. It sucks that she has to wear a headscarf though. That was the one thing I was hesitant about, but I said so in my interviews. I do have to dress business casual for work in Moldova though--I don't even have to do that at my current job. I hope I can find a curling iron somewhere.

I'll probably be home in CA at the end of May. If I can't find a temp job, it will be sooner.
