**Edit  - I just wanted to mention that I had an "MVD" aka  "Microvascular Decompression" in June 2009.  It failed, as it often does with atypical patients.   But, I'm still waiting for the results of my July 2009 neurosurgery, "Partial Sensory ( Read more... )

Thank you so much for watching the video, AND watching a Microvascular Decompression being performed. There are many people that are sick of hearing about, "Sheri's TN".
My neurosurgeon pioneered MVD, and is 78 years old. Lots of times you can't see anything wrong with an MRI, and that's what happened to me. But, he found an artery near the brain stem and blood vessel near my temple, where the Trigeminal Nerve exits the brain, that were both compressing the nerve. He dissected the artery and blood vessel and used teflon sponges to move them off the nerve. It failed, so 8 weeks later they went in and scooped out 60% of the nerve to get rid of the sensory portion. Now I have this awful dysesthesia, but it's suppose to subside in about a year.
Thanks for taking the time to understand. A lot of doctors think we are crazy drug addicts, because we don't look sick.
I normally only use this icon for private posts, but since your so special... *hugs* This is the incision 4 days after the rhizotomy. Also, here is another video made by the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association. It's suppose to air on TV, but I don't know when.
