Ugh...Tired, physically and mentally
Phew! Another day at work. Working with Alzheimer's patients is very difficult sometimes. Due to the nature of the mental state their attention span is very short, their memory is shot to hell and most become either very child-like or constantly argumentive. Today was one of those days when no one wanted to cooperate with anything. Meds, showers, meals, activities. They all took considerable persuasion and creativity on my and my assistants' part to get them going.
My nursing assistants are some of the best there are. They genuinely care about every patient in my unit.
We got through today, barely. I'm home now and just took off the uniform that has mashed potatoes, applesauce and ice cream all over it. :sigh: Don't ask.
Time to rest and relax before going back tomorrow and, hopefully, finding my 23 charges in a better mood.
