Best V-Day so far
So here I was all set to be bitter today and it turned out to be a rather pleasant day after all. I have issues with Valentine's Day. I mean, besides the obnoxiously commercial aspect to it, it tends to make you feel bad about yourself when you're single like I usually am. About a decade ago I started wearing black on V-Day as a way to express my discontent. It was fun for a while when I had a lot of single friends and they joined me, but after a while I started feeling bitter and pathetic so I stopped. Now I mostly try to wear a neutral color and just try not think about it. Both of my new co-workers love this day and were trying to get me pumped up about it. I resisted until they brought me presents! Amy got me some candy, a nifty heart pen that lights up, and pocket tissues that announce that I am a bitch :). Kira got me a card, a piece of chocolate, and a carnation. Amy brought cupcakes to work and Kira brought chocolate cake. Mike brought chocolates. One engineer stopped by and gave us all some chocolate. Another stopped by and gave us each a rose. We ordered lunch in and Chris came over to join us. Eileen came to see me later on and scored a cupcake. I even got to see Gary, and I haven't seen him in months. To recap: I got flowers, candy, presents, lunch, and got to see my friends. I'm thinking it's my best V-Day so far :)
