While I was having fun at Sydney on Sunday, enjoying the food and company, little that I realised thousand of miles away in Asia, an earthquake erupted that caused the tsunami, which claimed 20,000 lives to date and left millions others homeless. I only heard of the news on Monday afternoon on TV. It did not matter what creed, race or religion as it swept whoever in its path. Few more days to 2005, another disaster hits us. Perhaps its a sign. A sign to something of what to expect in 2005? God knows...

Singapore is really lucky not to be affected by it. It is strategically sits around the plates and not on the plates and being sheltered from other South East Asian countries from the earthquake. Malaysia our closest neighbour is a victim too. It is indeed a scary thought to realise how vulnerable we are, inches away from being the victim of the tsunami. Tsunami - I first heard of the word when I did geography back in secondary school. Mr Singam, my geography teacher told us how lucky we are that our little island is not sitting on the plates. Yes we are indeed lucky.

Disaster such as this will also see how people come together to offer humanitarian aid, regardless of one's race or religion. It got me thinking perhaps its a blessing in disguise to remind us of the existence of the higher power and that we are capable to come together putting aside our differences and help each other. This is not a war created by man and thus there are no allies nor enemies we are supporting for or shunning from. Bizarre indeed how the curtain falls on 2004. I hope and pray the last few days toward 2005 will be smooth sailing.

2005. I will be welcoming the new year for the first time in my life away from home. I will be standing next to my dear friends, catching the fireworks at Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Happy and excited and tinge of sadness as I used to welcome new years with my siblings.

On a lighter note, kick start the week with the movie Phantom of the Opera. Caught it at Greater Union in Gong with Rosie. It was truly a beautiful movie. I fell in love with the colours and the music. If I have the opportunity I want to watch the "live" stage musical version of it as I believe it will give me a different feel. We went to Warrawong with the boys to catch 2 more movies, Blade:Trinity and Meet the Fockers. The former was quite a disappointment. It was full of action but not much of a story line. The latter was hilarious. It tickled every bone in my body.

The weather took a drastic change from quite hot in the day to cold winds in the evening that we had to don jackets. Its unpredictable, just like a woman's mood.
