Today's Annoyance

"He still lives at home."

You've heard the phrase before, and you've probably used it: Lives at home. You know what it means of course. But, let's take a closer look at what it really means. Can someone, in fact, not live at home? Where else can you live? When did "living at home" mean that you still live with your parents? Does this mean that no matter how far you move away from your parents, no matter how much you grow up, your home is always going to be where your parents live?

Sorry, but I refuse to except this term for what it's turned into. Living at home is a "duh" statement, and I refuse to simply respond to it like I know what you're talking about. Either they live with their parents or they don't.
