My employers recently declared a surplus. That translates to: we're going to lay people off. It's been a very long and painful process for many people here. They told everyone on the same day that they were going to be let go. Those people were told that they had to remain on the payroll until July 25 to receive the pay package that they'd get

Also, they wouldn't have recently put me in a new department if they were going to get rid of me.
