Katsu had his first day of obedience school this past Saturday. I didn't know what to expect since he's never been socialized with other dogs/animals and it was his first day walking outside. So far when he's been outside he's always been carried because he can pick up the parvo virus. Though I'm not really sure what to believe now. Apparently that is an "old myth" but puppies still get it and my vet told me to not let him out. Needless to say, after puppy class we let him walk around the SPCA and around our apartment building. It was pretty evident that he needs to get used to a leash alot more. There were 4 other dogs in the class and unfortunately he wasn't the cutest haha! There was this adorable sheepdog that looked like a stuffed animal. He kept wandering around during the class and wouldn't sit still like the other puppies and was getting angry at his leash. He definitely wasn't the worst one there though haha. Then there was the off leash part where the puppies were allowed to play with each other. He's kind of apprehensive towards other dogs but he loves people because he kept walking up to the other owners or sniffing around the room by himself, which would make sense since alot of people came over to see Katsu but not any dogs. Hopefully he will get used to dogs though as the weeks go on and he's exposed to different environments.
He also made the trainer bleed...haha! Well, it wasn't funny at the time but now it is when I think of it! She was giving him a treat and he snatched it out of her hand. It's just that his teeth are unbelievably sharp compared to other puppies. Oh and she kept calling him "feisty". I don't think that's a good thing. He just needs to learn to not bite people when playing...but he's getting better at it. They teach clicker training there, which I guess is what many other programs teach. Unfortunately he won't do things out of love for me, only for treats. I just hope I have the patience, time, and energy to keep up with this training regimen now and am consistent with it! That is all for now!
