Sam peered in past the door before coming inside, just to see what kind of mood Dawn was in. "Hey," he said, going over to give her a kiss. "Can you believe the semester's almost over?"
"Well, yeah," Sam said, smirking. "But that doesn't mean I want to keep you from having alone time if you need it." He sat down on the bed beside her, trying to peer casually over her shoulder. "I take it you're leaving Maggie out of your letter?"
"I prefer to be in that state as well. I also like to be frying pan imprint-free," he teased. "I'm thankful you didn't feel the need to whack me for my other kids."
"You didn't get all snitty about John William," she pointed out, "and after a couple of days, I remembered that this world is the one that counts for us."
Sam leaned over and wrapped his arm around Dawn. "Well, I mean, who wouldn't want to have a girl around who can defend their honor and keep them safe, and look completely adorable all the while?"
"Did you do something wrong that I should know about and don't yet?" Dawn asked, snuggling into Sam's side, looking up at him, "Because you seem very extra complimentary, so I'm wondering."
