Dawn was surfing the internet, trying to find a pretty dress that she could wear to do...whatever she and Sam decided to do on Saturday instead of going to the prom.

"Ew."

"Ew."

"Even Faith wouldn't wear that."

"Ew."

Sam came into the room, bringing a reluctant Scout in with him. "Hey," he said, smiling. "What are you up to?"

"Trying to figure out what to wear Saturday," she told him. "What have you two been up to?"

"We went for a walk in the park, and I got to keep Scout from eating leftover chocolate," Sam said, laughing. "He was very determined. What sort of things are you looking at to wear? Am I allowed to know?"

Laughing, Dawn said, "It's not a wedding dress, Sam, and I haven't picked anything yet anyway. Ew, no," she closed the window quickly before she was blinded by the color and ruffles, then grinned at the next dress. "What do you think?"

Not that she'd wear it, but she wanted to see his reaction.

Sam glanced at the window, his eyes widening as he imagined that dress on Dawn. "Uh. It's very...see through in good places."

"So not happening," Dawn giggled. "I'd never make it out into the hallway without dying of embarrassment. Do we know what we're doing yet? Because that will help me decide."

"We're...going out to dinner somewhere nice?" Sam suggested. "Either here, or somewhere on the mainland if we can find a way to get around?"

"Would there be walking involved in this?" Dawn asked. "Isabel suggested catching a cab or a bus or something at the causeway, maybe."

"I imagine there will be some walking. If the weather's nice, we could even take a deliberate walk," Sam replied.

Dawn sighed happily. Someone who understood about good dates. "I'd like that. Plus, now I get to wear low shoes, which I don't have to with you, but they're comfier for walking."

Sam couldn't help but smirk a little. "You can wear whatever shoes you want, you know. I'd think you'd want to wear something comfortable no matter what."

Dawn gave him a Look that indicated he clearly didn't understand about shoes. "Heels make my legs look longer," she explained, not that she exactly needed the help, "plus, wooden heels are good for staking vamps."

Sam could tell that he was entering an area where this was a Girl Thing that he'd never be able to fully comprehend. "Okay, I guess I can't argue with you about the wooden heels part. But I would like to point out that your legs are lovely, no matter what kind of shoes you're wearing."

Dawn leaned over to kiss him. "Good answer. I knew I liked you for a reason."

Sam grinned, kissing her back. "It's good to know that I can occasionally pull a good answer out."

"You usually do, but wow, when your answer's bad? It's like...record-breaking."
