there's my poem, bet you can't guess what it's about

                 "Untitled" (as of now)
9/14/06

Every day is a battle, every song does me in.
Every wink, every smile, every laugh, every grin,
Takes me back in time to a place of contentment,
Knowing you were mine to love.

I gave you my heart and with it free reign,
control of my joy, my fear, and my pain.
With a naive trust I lent you the keys,
Knowing you were mine to love.

I continue to search but with no reward.
The committment I have, forever ignored.
But I cannot give up because of once was,
Knowing you were mine to love.

Now somebody else has taken my place.
They hear your laugh, see the light of your face.
Composing myself has become a routine,
Knowing you were mine to love.

I can't bear the thought of us drifting apart.
Our so called "just friendship" is close to my heart.
But it's hard to pretend like that will sufice,
Knowing you were mine to love.

Lately my feelings have clouded my sight.
This foreign invasion has casted new light.
Anger's replaced by stark resignation,
Knowing you're not mine to love.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I miss you indeed,
but there's a difference between what I want and I need.
Maybe someday that will not be so true,
But until then my goal is to stop loving you.
