Well, let's see...
In the last six weeks, not much happened, but I'll try to summarize what I remember...
Ummm.... He finally called me again after the UTI. As I was getting up, I mentioned that my finances were coming into order. So, I would be able to stop using him as a crutch sometime in the next nine months to a year. ... He hasn't spoken to me again.
dunno why...
My brother put out a pretty penny in both time and cash to get my car running and legal. Thank You!!!
I got demoted for failure to do my job. I can be blamed for some, but I can share blame too because I told them (my manager) months ago that I did not feel capable of completing all of the tasks he set me to... Mostly the whole "sell to the check cashers" idea. I work in "Little Mexico" and speak very, very little Spanish. Everyone keeps saying "Rosetta Stone." My typical reply is, "you buying it?" I priced it the other night, $550.
Anyway, I asked for a transfer, and my manager's manager thinks that it was because he demoted me (timing is everything), but the truth is that I wanted to be transferred almost as soon as he put me in that stupid store. I even told my direct manager that I needed to be transferred. Did he ask his manager (chain of command)? No.
Oh well.
I started looking for another job. In this economy, it's a bad idea, but I'm hopeful because a lot of call centers are hiring. I know. I know. I hated American Express for years. However, the ones that I see who will pay me what I want (and only work me 40 hours a week) seem to be "technical support" customer service centers. I can do that. Hell, after all this stupid rent-to-own shit, I could actually go work in a collection call center, but I don't want to do that. I want to work somewhere that has a moderate pace to the calls (not too fast or to many. I want to be able to breathe between calls.). I also want something that may be inbound sales or "how to" questions. I'm good at those, they aren't stressful, and I can leave them at work. Beyond that, call centers have high turn over. In six months, I can be working Monday to Friday, 7a to 4p. Depending on the call center, I could even be working four tens or from home. You can't do that in retail.
Anyway, now you have the 411 on my slowly turning world. I'll talk at you more a little later (or a lot later, it's hard to say).
