Things are finally starting settle down around here and the whole mom thing is starting to feel real. I'm not in as much pain as I was, but my epidural placement still kinda hurts. My milk also came in today, so that is going to make breastfeeding much easier. I was having to supplement formula because Delanie just wasn't getting enough food. She sleeps a lot now because her stomach is full, so that's nice for me. Now that my milk is in, my boobs are really sore and achy, but I'll be able to give Delanie more food than she got before. I'm not sure if I'm going to strictly pump or what, but I'll figure it out. I'm sure that's more detail than anyone wanted, but it's one of the things about being a mom that you can't exactly ignore. I also just have to say that the disposable drop-ins are the best invention EVER!
Everything else is going good. My enotions are fine, especially now that Delanie is settling in. The visitors have slowed, which is good, because Daniel and I kinda need to learn how to do the parenting thing on our own for a little while. I am up to visitors though, so if anyone wants to stop by, just call! Daniel and I are doing well, and it's so cute to see him jump up with every little whimper that Delanie makes. He has already taken SEVERAL rolls of pictures, so you can tell that he's definitely a proud papa. He's learning pretty quickly how to do everything too, like changing her diaper (which can get tricky with newborns) and dressing her. It's just absolutely adorable to see him with her.
As far as me and Delanie go, we're basically just starting to get to know each other. I've already noticed that she HATES bright lights and not having clothes on. I can also relax her by stroking her forehead with my finger and I can make her smile by tickling her ear, cheek, or the back of her neck. She also LOVES her swing and being wrapped up from the chest down. She likes to have her arms free to move around. It's just neat to spend time with her and just stare into her eyes. She already recognizes my voice, because she turns her head in my direction every time I talk. She recognizes Daniel's too, but it's not the same as mom I guess. So far, I really love being a mom. It's definitely the best job in the world.
Well, that's all for now. Delanie will be waking up soon and I need to get something to eat before she does. I'll write again when I get a chance! TTFN!
