WE'RE HOME!!!

OK, so Delanie and I were released from the hospital tonight and I couldn't be happier to be home. Being a mom and having this tiny baby to take care of is the scariest thing in the world, but also the most amazing. Daniel has been SOOOO wonderful with everything and it's absolutely adorable to see him in awe over his little girl. Right now, Delanie is asleep in her car seat, as she has been since we left the hospital, and Daniel is just sitting and staring at her. As soon as we got her ready to leave the hospital, she was perfectly content. It's nice to know that car rides and security of her seat relax her so much.

As far as her birth is concerned, things could have gone any smoother. My doctor broke my water at 12:30 and they got me started on some Pitocin then. I had some contractions, for about 3 hours, and then I was given the chance to have my epidural. I was told that if I didn't have it then, I would have to wait for another hour or two because the nurse was assisting in a C-section. I chose to have it then, and it wasn't anywhere NEAR as bad as I anticipated. They had to place it twice, which sucked, but it was definitely worth it. I didn't feel any more contractions and I dilated quickly from that point on. At 6:00, I was dilated to 4 and a half centimeters. Then at 6:50, I was dilated to 6. Then was the kicker... at 7:05, I was dilated to 9! Holy crap, it was freaking time to have her. So I started with a couple little pushes until 7:15, when my doctor came in. Then I started actively pushing, 3 pushes per contraction. Before I knew it, Delanie was out! She was born at 7:37 PM on Thursday, July 15th and weighed in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces. It was the most amazing and unbelievable experience of my life. I honestly can't put it into words, but it's safe to say that it was the happiest day of my life.

I also have to say how much I absolutely LOVE my friends. Their support through everything has been wonderful and I couldn't be more appreciative. Seeing everyone's smiling faces at the hospital really helped Daniel and I celebrate this little miracle that has entered into our lives.

Well, I need to get some stuff settled around here, but I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on how my little girl is doing! TTFN!
