Last night, I had the time of my life. It (of course) involves another concert with my favorite singer/songwriter. Still riding the high from Tuesday night's performance, I dropped the 50 dollars for a ticket to Beck's concert here in Dallas (Nokia Theater). I figured he wouldn't be back in Texas in years, so I jumped at the chance. It was extremely last minuet, but with some serious luck, I was able to get a pit ticket. So I primped myself to the max, and went it alone. I was a little nervous to go to this huge concert alone, but my excitement outweighed my apprehension.
I arrived to the theater and camped out my spot as close to the stage as I could. I was about one person behind the barricade. Not quite as close as last time, but close enough for the bassist to give me a little wink. The performance was absolutely electric. Even more intense than the last. It seemed to me that Beck and his band were having a little more fun with them selves. Beck did some awesome rapping, lots of guitar playing, and playing with Jmj (the bassist). I was right there upfront, screaming all of the lyrics with them. The night was flawless (save a couple of stupid pothead girls asking me if i had a pipe) I was like "yeah, but I left it in the car"
After a powerful E-pro, everyone emptied the stadium. Walking through the throngs of people, I listened to their comments on the show: "Man, that fuggin rocked!" "Show was intense!" etc etc..As I walked outside, I decided I wasn't going to end the night just yet. I wandered around the site, looking for the tour buses. I found a small group of hard core fans waiting around..I tried some pleasant conversation with them, but they were really pretty obnoxious. After waiting about 20 minuets Beck and his band walked out of the buses and toward the fences where we all waited. Good God, I was freaking out on the inside. I mean, there he was! My idol! I stood behind the other fans, waiting for my chance to say something to him. I managed to keep calm and say "Its an honor to meet you, your music means alot to me" I then handed him my ticket for an autograph and he replied "aww thank you, its nice to meet you". I then went over to Jmj and shook his hand and told him he was awesome.
There aren't many things that I really obsess about, so to finally meet Beck was just unreal. Really one of the best nights of my life.
