In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.
I love so many many vids and it's a shame I can't rec them all right now, so here' are some of the many many amazing vids out there:
VID RECS
One vid that's very dear to me is
I wanna be evil by
halcyon_shift. I watched this when I was pretty new to fandom and it was an entirely new experience for me, because this was a vid to a song that would normally not have been my cup of tea (back then, things have changed) and I wasn't familiar with most sources. Yet I loved this vid and it made me realize that there is something to be appreciated madly loved about vids that doesn't necessarily have to have much to do with their individual components. The good old, the whole is more than the sum of its parts thing. Anyway, it's awesome. Awesome women being tired of being "sweet". Follow the link to the download, you have to search a bit, but it's totally worth it!
This vid is about the women in Boradwalk Empire and it's brilliant. I don't know what else to say, watch it!
Daddy, I'm fine by d_generate_girl aka voodoochild aka
bluerosefairystrong independant pegan woman, singing
I have a lot of love for all the vids that were made for me, so let me show you!
Bubba Ho-Tep
Feeling like a Ghost by
sdwolfpupI know I'm getting older
This is brilliant! The song is perfect and the vid captures perfectly the unique mood of the movie. It has everything, the mixture of strange, scary, funny and touching that I adore so much in the source. If this doesn't convince you maybe this will: Bruce Campbell as Elvis (and his own doppelganger) in a resthome in Texas fighting a cowboy mummy with John Kennedy. You heard me.
Universal Soldier
Come as You Are by
obsessive24Come doused in mud, soaked in bleach, as I want you to be
This vid is the Universal Soldier Vid of my heart, the vid I always wanted, the vid that amplifies the emotional impact the movie keeps having on me. It captures the aspect I love most about the movie: the way Luc and Andrew are both consumed by the last thought they had before they killed each other. And all the fighting and the blood looks really pretty, especially when doused in mud.
Thelma & Louise
Shine by
fan_euniceWhat will I find?
This vid just flows with awesomeness The song is perfect and brilliantly used, quiet and hectic moments take turns while the story of one of the most beautiful big screen friendships is told. I could list all my favorite parts but that would be everything, so you might just watch the vid.
Top Gun
This town's religion by
destinaWelcome to AviatorWorld: pretty boys obsessed with joysticks, and a girl named Charlie.
The very first festivid made for me and it's awesome! It will always have a special place in my heart. The movement and the song choice and the pov and the everything!
