Another music dream last night! Well, this morning, technically. I woke up to my alarm, but as it was 6:30, I thought I'd better hit the snooze. I did, and I fell asleep again and dreamed I'd missed an important glockenspiel audition! As a result, I lost my place as mallet percussionist in the Concord Symphonic Band! Which is really ridiculous, because the only reason I'm playing in the first place is because there's no one else who wants to/knows how!
Last night I went to a poetry reading with a teacher from Lindisfarne and his flatmate. His flatmate, by the way, is from Minnesota. Silly idea of his, to invite both of us. I'm sure the conversation was a little boring for him. But we had a grand old time, talking about the State Fair and Saint Paul and high schools in North Minneapolis. Man, was her accent ever weird to listen to! It was SO Minnesotan! I'm pretty positive it was way stronger than mine. I HOPE it was way stronger than mine, at any rate! Not that it would matter around here, though, because the Lindisfarne teacher couldn't hear one iota of difference between her accent and mine. Sort of like the way I still get confused between Australians and Kiwis...and Brits, I'm ashamed to say.
Teaching continues to go well. I think I'm learning more than anyone. I taught two lessons today that were spectacularly successful...except for a couple parts that were spectacularly unsuccessful! Talk about crashing and burning! Ah, well, this is how we learn (well, this is how *I* learn - I'm not sure I can say the same for the students!) Speaking of teaching, I'm off to write lesson plans. Oh joy, oh rapture unparalleled! Oh ecstasy without equal! Could there be a luckier person than I? Survey says No!
