On Friday evening we had dinner with muffyjo and wrynathan, who was in town from Oakland and apparently brought the weather with him. We went to Chez Henri early enough to just walk in and sit down and had a wonderful meal.

We had our annual winter/birthday party last night. I made the Charles Dickens punch and it came out very well. I think I made just about exactly enough food--by the end of the evening most people were declining the hot hors d'oeuvres, but almost everything got eaten. The mix of people was interesting. Jason valiantly dug out his ski pants and trudged out to do a first round of shovelling. One of the good things about our house is that we're right around the corner from the public works' garage, so plows go by every ten minutes or so. Last night I watched Ice Wars X on CBS. This is a professional figure skating competition which this year included the two pairs gold medalists from Salt Lake City, Sale & Pelletier and Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze. I tend to enjoy the Canadians' skating more than the Russians'--Jamie and David are the only skaters who've ever actually made me cry ( Read more... )
