Title: Strangers
Fandom: Veronica Mars
Characters: Veronica Mars/Lilly Kane
Prompt: 025: Strangers
Word Count: 139
Rating: PG-ish.
Summary: Nobody asked why.
Author's Notes:This set's for Nell kwatchingoverme 'cause she's wonderful.

Through the blonde hair, and the boobs and the hips, the long slim legs and the elegant, tapered fingers, looking past the manicured nails and the much practised smile, it was clear to anyone that Lilly was vulnerable.

One of the problems was that the boys saw the boobs, the smile and the willing attitude. They wanted to be good enough for Lilly Kane, wanted to be bad enough for her to want them. Most girls saw the hair and the legs, and the ways their boys flocked to her, and wanted to be Lilly Kane, but they all promised themselves they were better than Lilly.

Nobody asked why. Nobody looked at who Lilly was. Veronica didn’t either until she had to confront the Lilly that she’d never seen and she knew that Lilly and she were perfect strangers.

Title: Beginnings
Fandom: Veronica Mars
Characters: Veronica Mars/Lilly Kane, OC
Prompt: 001: Beginnings.
Word Count: 144
Rating: PG-ish.
Summary: She loved them both dearly.
Author's Notes:AU. This set is the first VM fic that I've introduced an original character into. I quite like this character, personally, and if she's well recieved I might be tempted to write more of her. So if you have any opinion on her at all, please give me feedback.

It took another to force them to look at each other again. Eleanor, her name was, and she was just the balance that the other two needed. Taller than either of them, dark haired but so pale, she played the violin as though she were stroking the musical soul of the world. She fulfilled them. She completed them. She loved them both dearly.

And she gave them popping candy that made it rain in their heads.

They both laughed more with Eleanor then either did alone, and slowly but surely she became another fixture in their world. When Lilly’s hands trembled and she couldn’t make it stop, Eleanor stroked the pain from her back and held her close. When Veronica’s mind fell out with itself and every part of her was yearning to go in a different direction, Eleanor brought her back together again.

Title: Middles
Fandom: Veronica Mars
Characters: Veronica Mars/Lilly Kane, OC
Prompt: 002: Middles
Word Count: 160
Rating: PG-ish.
Summary: They all played with their artistic talents together.
Author's Notes: Just remember it's AU.

They all played with their artistic talents together. Lilly would make things with her hands, giving handmade cards and boxes containing homemade gifts to them at birthdays and Christmas. Eleanor played song after sonata, movement after movement, and Veronica became obsessed with her hands, with light and with shade, and would spend hours in the darkroom as the other two played snap with invisible cards on the carpet in Veronica’s bedroom.

When they grew up a little, Eleanor changed her name. Lilly left for college, and Veronica was left with this new Nell, a girl she didn’t really know anymore, a change in a world that had been fixed and perfect in the original sense - complete. There were new gaps to be filled, and nobody there to fill them, and Nell knew that the way Lilly and Veronica could see each other would be different, that they would fill each others gaps if there was nobody there holding them open.

Title: Ends
Fandom: Veronica Mars
Characters: Veronica Mars/Lilly Kane, OC
Prompt: 002: Ends
Word Count: 165
Rating: PG-ish.
Summary: In some ways it was easy to leave.
Author's Notes: Just remember it's AU.

In some ways it was easy to leave, to change everything at once and know that it would be hardest for Veronica, left behind again. She knew that life is easier with two pieces of the puzzle to fit together than with three. She wrote to them, once, but it got easier to leave it.

She thought she saw Lilly once, at a train station, but it was blurred and she could have been dreaming. Veronica she only read about in the papers and felt strangely proud that the girl she thought of as a graceful 17 year old could do so well in the big bad world of publishing

Nell still played her violin, but mostly she composed. Sometimes she would sketch music in the air with her fingers while she dreamed of the blonde and dark hair tangling together in that photograph, and remembered Veronica standing over them, and then hours waiting for that one perfect black-and-white moment, to be frozen in time.
